BIG APPLE - HISTORY |
 The
Big Apple Fan Club was founded on July 28, 1997 when Daniela
Mercury came to New York for a performance at the Avery
Fischer Hall at Lincoln Center. The founder, Noelia Teixeira
attended the concert and discovered that she and Daniela had
something in common. They were both
from the same state of Bahia in Brazil. Not only that, but
Noelia had been impresed with Daniela’s voice and performance
before meeting her in person.
This bond of appreciation and admiration was solidified when
Noelia discovered that Daniela Mercury was a representative
for UNICEF and ONU in Brazil. She decided to do what she could
to support Daniela so she set out to form the Fan Club. Since
she lived in New York, she decided to call the Fan Club The
Big Apple. Little did she know that it would get the support
and popularity it has achieved.
She had a web site designed and soon she began to be contacted
by other fans. These contacts soon spread to other cities in
the United States as Daniela’s popularity increased with her
performances in other cities. It didn’t stop there. As Daniela
traveled to other countries, her fans from around the world
began to discover the Big Apple Fan Club and wanted to be a
part of it.
Daniela
Mercury’s popularity continues to increase and so has the size
of the Big Apple Fan Club. Today it has over 3,000 excited
members from all over the world.
Noelia had no idea her dream of support would turn in to such
a big project which has made her friends with people in so
many countries. She wishes to thank everyone who has dreamed
this dream with her and made it such a wonderful experience.
